LANIC ("Lao National Internet Committee") is the exclusive registry for the Country Code internet Top Level Domain ("cc TLD") .LA which has been designated by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority ("IANA") as the TLD associated with the Country Code for the Country of Lao PDR. LANIC entered an exclusive agreement with GAA INTERNATIONAL LTD, trading as LA Names Corporation Ltd of Dixcarte House, Sir William Place, St Peter Port, Guernsey GY1 4EZ ("LA Names") for the marketing, administration and operation of cc TLD .LA. LA Names represents that it is duly authorised to manage, operate and market .la and to enter into agreements with Registrars.
The target market for cc TLD .LA domain names is Los Angeles, Latin American and Louisiana. Certain second level domain names, yet to be released are to be used for the country Lao PDR. Registrations are permitted on a worldwide basis as an open registry.

Wholesale price to registrars: US$25.00 / domain year
Registration term: .LA domains can be registered for a minimum of one (1) year, and a maximum of ten (10) years.
Minimum length of a domain name: 2 (two) character, not including extensions
Auto-renew or Auto-Delete: Registrars can chose whether .LA domains automatically renew or auto-delete at the end of their term.
A domain may be deleted at any time between registration and when the invoice is paid.
We do not charge for transfers.
Pending Delete period: 45 days. Pending Delete domains are placed on Hold status and removed from the zone file. This 45 days is .LA's redemption grace period. No charges are raised for RGP reactivation.
Dispute Resolution: .LA disputes will be addressed using the ICANN Uniform Domain Resolution Policy
"Registrar Customer" means a registrant of a .LA domain name shown in the registry on the account of a sponsoring Registrar or Registrar of record.
LA Names respects the relationship between Registrars and their Customers. LA Names does not and will not contact directly a registrar's existing customer with the purpose of transferring their domain names. LA Names does not provide customer support to Registrars' Customers.
If a Registrar's Customer initiates the contact and wishes to transfer their domain names to the www.la registrar then LA Names will accept the transfer.
Currently any customers contacting www.la requesting renewals are being informed to wait until they are contacted by their Registrar of record (this also applies in the case of expired domain names.)
In accordance with Government Policy of Lao PDR and for the purpose of benefiting the Lao people a number of names are reserved. For policy reasons a number of domain names are restricted. This affects less than 1000 domain names.
LA Names offers a number of premium names from www.la website. These names are non-transferable.
